Mubarak Sumaila
Mubarak is a seasoned fintech founder who launched Ghana’s first digital bank for the unbanked, raising $1.3 million.
With over eight years of experience building technology companies in Ghana and the USA, he is an alum of prestigious programs like the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST), Halcyon Incubator, Techstars, and the Google Black Founders Fund, honing his expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation.
Mubarak has worked with Ashesi D-Lab, UNICEF, GIZ, AHK, and MEST, while forging partnerships with global giants like Visa and Vodafone. His deep industry knowledge and commitment to impact drive NylaBank’s vision of ethical and inclusive financial solutions.
He has also served on Halcyon Incubator’s Equitytech Selections Committee and the Summit Impact Alumni Steering Committee. His work has been featured in TechCrunch, the BBC, and showcased in Times Square.

Abdul-Jalil Ibrahim
Dr. Abdul-Jalil has over 15 years of experience in Islamic finance, academic research, and SME advisory. He previously worked with Standard Chartered Bank and holds advanced degrees in Islamic Finance and Economy from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, an MSc in Energy Studies from the University of Dundee, and a BSc in Business Administration from KNUST, Ghana. He has also earned a FinTech certification from The University of Hong Kong.
Through his research and collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank Institute, Dr. Abdul-Jalil has made significant contributions to the Islamic finance field. As a director at Dar al Istithmaar, he provides SME advisory services and structures financial deals, bringing deep expertise to NylaBank.

Ali Halabyah
Ali has over 12 years of experience in the MENA region, specializing in e-commerce, ride-hailing, shipping, and fintech. He has played key roles in two successful funding rounds and two acquisitions, holding strategic technical positions at Wahed, Google, Mazaj, and Fetchr.
With a strong track record in team leadership, Ali has managed teams of over 40 engineers and scaled complex distributed systems. He built a car marketplace featuring 30,000 vehicles, developed a mass-transportation platform supporting 7,000 daily bus trips, and created a one-step checkout system that processed over 10 million orders. He also led the transition of a robo-advisory and neo-banking platform, successfully migrating 50,000 users from a legacy system.
Ali holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Software Engineering from Al al-Bayt University and an MBA from Hult International Business School.
